SHAWOOD Homebuilding Operations

SHAWOOD is Sekisui House’s brand of premium wooden-framed homes. This brand achieves a freedom of home and lifestyle design not bound by conventional approaches to wooden-framed home building, and is the driving force behind the Sekisui House aim to make our technology the global de facto standard.

SHAWOOD homebuilding began in the U.S. in 2020 when Sekisui House was the first Japanese homebuilder to have a presence at the International Builders’ Show. The unique SHAWOOD brand was then introduced to the U.S market in 2021, starting in Las Vegas, and the brand presence is now being expanded across the country with the opening of our first full SHAWOOD community in Temecula, California in 2023.

SHAWOOD strengths are the freedom of design made possible with our proprietary pre-engineered structure, and the expansive and connected interior and exterior spaces that this structure allows. This sophisticated design then enables the owner to realize an entirely new lifestyle. These strengths were recognized when we were selected as the Grand Winner in the Innovative Housing category at the 2020 PCBC’s Gold Nugget Awards.

Sekisui House welcomed M.D.C. Holdings, Inc in 2024, known for its Richmond American Homes brand, as the newest member of our group as we entered the U.S. homebuilding industry.
Our homebuilding business is based on providing a new kind of value, through lifestyle solutions and value matched to each customer’s individual needs.
We further expanded our operations by welcoming Woodside Homes, Holt Homes, Chesmar Homes and Hubble Homes* to the group. Starting January 2026, our U.S. homebuilder business will begin operating under a new One Company structure under the umbrella of SEKISUI HOUSE U.S., Inc., as we aim to "Make home the happiest place in the world"– all over the world.

*Hubble Homes is operated as a division of Woodside Homes.
